Google has developed a new status dashboard for Google Search, which can be seen at status.search.google.com.
Google Search Status Dashboard. The Google Search status dashboard will indicate whether Google Search is experiencing an outage or problem. Google will specifically clarify whether there is a problem with crawling, indexing, or serving in Google Search.
Google stated, “As we approach 2023, we want to release a new tool to let the public understand the current status of Search-related services, including crawling, indexing, and serving.”
Issues are infrequent. Google stated, “While system outages are exceedingly uncommon, we wish to be honest when they do occur.” And yes, we have reported several indexing, crawling, and serving issues with Google Search throughout the years. As it does for Google Ads and numerous other products, Google now offers a means to report it under its Google Status Dashboard system.
What it looks like. Here’s an image of this dashboard:
How it operates. Google stated, “This dashboard displays widespread issues that have occurred over the past week, along with specifics and the current status of the occurrence.” A widespread issue is a systematic Search system issue that affects a big number of sites or Search users. Typically, these types of vulnerabilities are highly obvious from the outside, while the SREs’ monitoring and alerting mechanisms operate in the background to flag them.
“Once we confirm with SREs that there is a persistent, widespread issue in Search, we intend to report an incident on the dashboard within an hour, followed by updates every 12 hours. Unlike a standard automated dashboard, these updates are reported by our global staff. “The incident generally began when we were able to validate the issue,” Google explained.
Why it matters. Rarely, we encounter indexing, crawling, and serving issues with Google Search, but we must contact Google to validate the issue. Similar to many of its other goods and services, Google will now display these confirmations on the dashboard.
